In my magazine I will need to use a colour scheme of three or four colours. I need to research certain colours which go together to see which will go and look the best in my magazine. Because the style for my magazine will be vintage I need the magazine to follow light pastel and old styled colours to fit in with the styling.
1. This is a colour pallet which consists of dar and light orangey/beige and light and dark tones of bluey green. I think the colours work well together and would look good on my magazine.
2. These pastel colours and tones will fit into the vintage theme well however it would be quite girly which would limit the target audience to one specific gender which wouldn't be ideal. However I think that the tones would work well.
3. These darker tones would be more effective than lighter colours if used in the right way however vintage should look lighter and more free than dark which look quite harsh to the reader. Lots of dark reds wouldnt go with my theme however light browns would look good.
4. Again these colours are quite dark and quite girly, however the brown/beige and blue I think are quite nice and could suit the theme of my magazine and would therefore look good and be aesthetically pleasing to the reader
5. Although this colour scheme of dark purples through to light beige goes against a lot of the things that I have said, I think these colours are really good togther and would look cool on and in a magazine. However I dont think that this would go with the vintage theme very well as it is very dark.
6. Like colour pallet 2, this is very girly and would mean that the target audience would be limited to just females, however the light tones are something whch I could take inspiration from in order to make the magazine look more vintage.
7. I like the blues and greens of this colour selection. I think if the right tones were used and mixed with other shades of other colours then this would link in well with my vintage theme for the magazine.
8. This colour pallet is quite girly but I think that the lighter, more pastel sections would look good on and in my magazine. If I use a girl on the front of my magazine (which I plan to do) then the colours will link in to the style of that artist, however these coulours will probably not be very appealing to both genders which will decrease the target audience to a more niche market which could be bad.
Nicely done. Interesting colour schemes. Try to limit yourself to 3 or 4 colours on the page if you can. The fewer you use the better (usually).
